The Young family fit perfectly in the urban scenery of downtown and we had a blast! The colors and décor were just perfect! The girls were adorable and did everything they were asked. They had not had a family portrait session in a couple years and were excited to have an update. I especially love Jennifer's style in coordinating everyone's clothing. They aren't 'matchy-matchy' but they all go together well. Perfect coordination!
I have volunteered as the photographer for EP!C both at their amazing annual fund raising event, Bon Appetit as well as doing some on-site promotional photos for their advertising. Having a good childhood friend with special needs, the work they do at EP!C is very close to my heart! At the last event, the CEO, Kim, mentioned needing an updated family portrait so we got together on what I think might have been the hottest day of the summer! My lens even fogged up when we headed outside.
Kim's family was a great to photograph. Their home and yard were perfect for their session. I especially loved the portraits of the girls separately and seeing how much their individual personalities came through. I know the next time they all have a professional family portrait will likely be one of the girls weddings, so being able to do the last family portrait before their family grows in the future was quite an honor!
Teresa contacted me about photographing their wedding after their friend, Holly Ott, recommended me. (Thanks Holly!!!) I had photographed Holly's beautiful daughter for her senior portraits a couple years ago and we had a blast!
Teresa and I emailed back and forth, but since she didn't live locally we didn't get to meet in person until the wedding day. I instantly adored her. She has an amazing personality and a beautiful smile! She and Ed made an amazing couple and it was so wonderful to be a part of their day!
We got some beautiful portraits and even braved the mosquitos for the beautiful outdoor ones. I especially love the receiving line portraits. I don't usually photograph much beyond immediate family in the receiving line, however Teresa and Ed had a fairly small wedding guest list and embraced each and every guest as though they were the most important person in the world. The emotions captured in those portraits are just so telling of the type of warm and inviting people they are. I know I felt like a good friend by the end of the evening and I can't wait to see Teresa and Ed again.
Malia was perfect for her newborn session! She was a little older than a typical newborn because she was a preemie but you wouldn't know it by her portraits! Love the adorable preemie chunk cheeks! Her family lives in Chicago so we did the session at Grandma's house in Peoria. They had lots of excellent ideas and we did some stunning skin on skin portraits with mom and dad. This one in the antique stroller is my favorite though. I have been just beyond excited for this prop and I finally got to use it. LOVE!!!
The Ellicott family took me to a new location and I sure love new locations...especially ones so beautiful! This park has special meaning as they come here quite often. Benny really wanted to play on the playground and I bet that seemed strange to come to the park and NOT be doing only that but he was a real trooper and smiled for quite a few. Evelyn got several portraits by herself being the newest member of the family! Love the great portraits we got with the Illinois river in the background!
I have known Vicki for several years and have adored her since the moment we met. She is always such an inviting friend and her contagious laugh makes you feel happy. Every moment I have spent with her, including a few Bunko times on the boat, were always a complete hoot. Plus, she gives amazing hugs-something I really admire in a person :-)
When she and her husband Tom, asked me to photograph their boat and a few with them I was honored. The have so many wonderful memories aboard and now they are on to new adventures and I just know the next owner will love being able to call this beauty theirs.
I had a blast during Hailey's session. She had chosen some very flattering outfits and we selected the most perfect locations around Peoria and even in Pekin. She was such a sport and willing to do any pose I wanted to try, even the ones in the leaves! Got to try out a new location I had been wanting to visit too! I had a great time getting to know Hailey and her mom. She is a softball player and I especially enjoyed the ones with her jerseys and gear on the field. It was so difficult to pick which portraits to have printed and I know they are happy to be able to see them all in the image video. Can't wait to hear what their friends and family think. She is so photogenic!
I love photographing weddings but have chosen not to do more than a couple a year so I can have a flexible schedule to attend weekend events with my kids. I have missed them and since I love weddings I have been very happy to have gotten to do 3 in the past month. How fun! This wedding was especially wonderful for me to get to be a part of because of our friendship.
In 2009 I moved to Peoria to be close to 3 amazing couples who I love dearly and consider my family. Scott and Tammy Senti, Rick and Kim Gibson and Scott and Becky Rosenberg. We have fun every time we get together and I wanted to live close to them and loved Peoria so it was a win! Shortly after I moved here, the Rosenbergs decided to relocate to Florida. I always thought I would follow them there but then I met Ryan and plans changed.
In 2014 Becky was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and passed away. It broke all of our hearts and Scott was lost without her. He found love again though in Nancy and when he asked me to be their wedding photographer I was honored! Nancy is funny and kind and a joy to be around and I look forward to having more chances to visit them in Clearwater Beach and get to know her better!
Their wedding was so beautiful. Picture perfect event center and everything was amazing! They decided to combine their last names of 'Rosenberg' and 'Romano'. The first 3 letters of his and last 3 of hers and both took the last name Rosano. They are such a thoughtful couple that there was even a picture of Becky on the memorial table as you entered the building.
They are now enjoying their honeymoon and I am enjoying watching the Facebook posts! So many people I knew at this wedding. Friends from Peoria, Ohio and Colorado as well as friends I had only known on Facebook until the wedding that live in Florida. Absolutely beautiful wedding ceremony, venue and couple and I know they will be blessed with many, many happy years together!!!
It really is...at least according to the calendar. Now if you go outdoors, it's in the 80's today so it doesn't FEEL like it but hopefully it will for the family portrait sessions this weekend. October has started off with a bang! After spending the last week of September in Florida photographing a wedding (I am SO thankful it wasn't THIS Thursday as the hurricane is pending!) I had a wedding to photograph October 1st as well. Now to kick this cold or whatever illness has had a grasp on me and I will be all set! Nearly every Saturday and Sunday in October is booked and several weekdays and weeknights as well. I love summer but am so excited for all the family portraits in the leaves that October brings as well! If you are considering having your portrait made this fall, get in contact with me ASAP as only a handful of times remain!
We photographers are creatives. We do great with all the art photography stuff but usually fall flat when it comes to business, financial stuff, marketing and website design. we love to photograph but not so much the business building stuff.
I DO in fact really love the business aspect. Marketing is my very favorite and I love it almost as much as photography. Numbers, financial and budget...ugh...not my cup of tea!
I have been finding it challenging to find new clients. I find many through my charitable donations to silent auctions and raffles and through word of mouth, but as far as people contacting me out of the blue-crickets.
I realized it was because my website SEO (search engine optimization) needed some serious work. I thought this would be SO dull and boring but it's kind of like a fun game for me so I am pleasantly surprised! The key is figuring out what people are searching for on Google and then making sure my website has that specific content all new and shiny for the search engines to find!
The thing I need to know is what people are searching for? If you were looking for a photographer, what would you Google?
Since I specialize in Family Portraits, the things I came up with are:
